Free Walking Tour Genova

The Free Walking Tour starts from the heights of the city. We will find ourselves in a magical place, with a breathtaking view, and then go down and cross the labyrinth of the alleys of the old city. The Free Walking Tour of Genoa’s historic center will guide you through one of Italy’s most captivating and enigmatic cities. Our journey starts at the stunning Cathedral of San Lorenzo, an architectural gem recently restored to its full glory. From there, we will walk along Via San Lorenzo, passing the historic Doge’s Palace, before reaching Piazza De Ferrari, the city’s beating heart and home to its famous fountain.
Next, we will admire the renowned Teatro Carlo Felice, continuing towards Via Garibaldi, a UNESCO-listed street built in the 16th century by Genoa’s noble families. This elegant avenue is lined with magnificent palaces, including the splendid Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino and Palazzo Rosso.
Diving into the intricate network of caruggi (narrow alleys), we will uncover the city’s hidden charms. Stops include the historic Church of San Siro, Via San Luca with its Church of San Luca, and Piazza Banchi, where we’ll admire the Loggia di Banchi and the Church of San Pietro in Banchi.
The tour continues through Via degli Orefici, once home to Genoa’s skilled goldsmiths, before arriving at Piazza Campetto, where we will see Palazzo Ottavio Imperiale and Palazzo Gio Vincenzo Imperiale. Finally, we will stroll along Via di Scurreria, making our way back to our starting point at the Cathedral of San Lorenzo.
Meeting Point
I loved your tour ❤️
I would recommend Simona’s tour to anyone. I learned a huge amount about Genoa in under 3 hours. She was interesting and hit the right balance showing us around key places of interest but humanizing it all and sharing stories. We tried pesto and a special Affogato with cream not ice cream. We also walked past the Foccacheria as recommended by Stanley Tucci. Simon’s also gave useful info on the metro etc. She was fantastic!
Top tour! Fantastic tour with Simona 😉
