Visit the Castle of Taormina

On May 7th, 2024, after nearly 35 years of closure, Taormina Castle has reopened to the public. This impressive Arab-Norman fortress from the 11th century stands on Mount Tauro, offering breathtaking views and a unique experience in Sicily.
With this entrance ticket, you can explore the castle independently, at your own pace, enjoying stunning 360° views over the Ionian Sea, the Strait of Messina, the Alcantara Valley, and Mount Etna.
Reaching the castle is part of the experience: a scenic staircase carved into the rock, starting near the Madonna della Rocca Sanctuary, leads visitors through spectacular viewpoints.
Inside, you can discover ancient caves, a Roman cistern still in use, the armory with reconstructions of Arab and Norman warriors, the “well of death,” and panoramic terraces.
Visiting Taormina Castle offers a peaceful and authentic experience, away from the crowds.
After your visit, a stop at the nearby Madonna della Rocca Sanctuary and a scenic walk down to the historic center is highly recommended.
